The work day did not end as planned when the first of three tornados touched down in Springfield just a few blocks from OTO's Springfield Office. The first tornado formed on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 4:20 PM just as the work day was coming to a close. OTO's Ed Weagle managed to film the event from the OTO's fifth floor office. After posting it to YouTube, the video was picked up and broadcast on the Weather Channel. (Click the link to view)

At least 19 Massachusetts communities were affected by the tornados which caused three deaths, and left 26,000 people without electrical service. Gov. Deval Patrick declared a state of emergency and called in 1,000 National Guardsmen.
